New Advisor Academy

The Advisor Academy serves as an intensive boot camp experience for advisors who are new to their positions at IUPUI (“New” can include up to 6 months in advising). At the end of this two day experience, New Advisors will leave with:

• Questions to ask school/unit leaders regarding policies and procedures specific to their school/unit
• An Advising Manual
• A mentoring relationship with an experienced advisor
• Connection to a cohort of new advisors
• Access to all needed advising technologies

The Topics Below will be Presented by Facilitators from Across Campus
1. Goals and Approaches to Advising (Theory, Philosophy, Conceptual issues)
2. Technology in Advising-Part I (AdRx, FLAGS, SSC)
3. Campus Resources, Partners, and Councils
4. Four Year Academic Planning
5. Career Planning Competencies
6. IUPUI Policies and Procedures
7. Technology Part II (iGPS, AARs, Symplicity, TES/Transferology, Transfer Credit Process)
8. Simulated Advising with Mentors

The training will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days with a boxed lunch provided on day one. All sessions will be held in the Taylor Hall (UC) 104. If you are interested in attending, you will need to register using the link below.
