The Security Matters Cybercamp is a two-day camp delivered by the CACR. Led by cybersecurity professionals with extensive field experience, in addition to offering fun, hands-on sessions with ample time for questions and answers, it will expose participants to a range of cybersecurity topics that include:
--Basics of phishing and how to avoid being phished
--Ethical issues in cybersecurity
--Why web sites get hacked and how
--Digital forensics, cybercrime and the Dark web
--How computer networks function, how they are secured, and why it matters
--Legal issues in cybersecurity such as the recently introduced GDPR in the EU
--Why two factor authentication is important
--How to pick physical locks
--What a professional cybersecurity career looks like

The class also includes a guided tour of IU's large data center where you will get to see what goes on behind the scenes of Internet services.

We are no longer accepting applications for this since the course is full.

Accelerator Crash Courses are designed to provide to provide a place to learn more than just the basics about a topic. These workshops are highly collaborative and interactive and are intended to encourage further in-depth and independent learning of the subject matter. These workshops typically occur on a Saturday and/or Sunday, and last 6+ hours. Lunch is provided at each session. Because of the popularity of these workshops and the limited seats, attendees must apply for a seat at each workshop. They are open to any IUB student, but preference is given to CEWiT affiliates.
