Talk with Mary Reid Kelley & Patrick Kelley + Opening Reception
Join us on November 28 for the 2018 Christel DeHaan Family Foundation Visiting Artist Lecture with Mary Reid Kelley and Patrick Kelley, held in conjunction with the opening of Herron's annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition.
MacArthur Fellow Mary Reid Kelley and Patrick Kelley discuss their video performances, in which they use cartoon-like characters and bawdy humor to riff on classical mythology and contemporary popular culture.
The Christel DeHaan Family Foundation Visiting Artist Lecture brings prominent contemporary artists to come to Herron to present their work and ideas.
This event is free and open to the public and occurs in the Basile Auditorium of Eskenazi Hall on the IUPUI campus. Visit herrongalleries.org for details on parking, exhibitions, and more.
ALSO ON VIEW THROUGH DEC. 12
In the Marsh Gallery: MacArthur Fellow Mary Reid Kelley and Patrick Kelley's "The Minotaur Trilogy," a trio of videos that bring a feminist perspective to the Greek myth of the minotaur, using punning wordplay, handmade costumes and sets, and bawdy humor to riff on classical mythology and pop culture.
In the Basile Gallery: "Stuff(ed)," an exhibition featuring the work of five contemporary artists who explore the playful, subversive power of sculpted fabric to transform and reimagine mass-market commodities and bric-a-brac from everyday life. Participating artists are Jessica Dance, Gil Yefman, Andrea Pritschow, David Gabbard and Natalie Baxter.
