Ambassador Māris Riekstiņ, Russian Studies Workshop: Fall 2018 Telebridge Discussion

Māris Riekstiņš is a Latvian politician and diplomat and a former Foreign Minister of Latvia (2007-2010). He served as the Ambassador of Latvia to the United States (2004-2007) and Permanent Representative of Latvia to NATO (2011 -2015). In his career Riekstiņš has also been Head of the Latvian Delegation for Accession to NATO, Chairman of the Advisory Council for Latvia’s membership of the World Trade Organization, Head of the Delegation of Latvia in WTO talks in Seattle (1999), Doha (2000) and Cancun (2003). Riekstiņš has a law degree from the University of Latvia.   In this telebridge/video discussion, Riekstiņš will discuss Baltic/West-Russian relations in the area of security policy as well as the nature of a career in the foreign service. Following his talk, he will field questions from the audience.
