IU CINEMA: Fatima

Fatima, a Moroccan immigrant, lives with her two daughters: 15-year-old rebellious Souad and 18-year-old studious Nesrine. Due to her poor French, Fatima finds it hard to communicate with her daughters, who don’t speak Arabic well. To give her daughters the future she never had, she works as a maid. After falling down the stairs at work, Fatima takes a leave of absence, during which she writes to her daughters in Arabic everything that she’s been unable to say. In French and Arabic with English subtitles.
