IU MFA Reading Series: Megan Giddings and Shayla Lawson
The IU MFA Creative Writing Program presents a public reading by writers Megan Giddings and Shayla Lawson on Jan. 15, 2019 at 7 pm, at the University Club within the IMU.
Megan Giddings is a contributing editor at Boulevard and a fiction editor at The Offing. In 2018, she received a Barbara Deming Memorial Foundation grant for feminist fiction. Her short stories have been recently published or are forthcoming in The Adroit Journal, Barrelhouse, Gulf Coast, and The Iowa Review. Megan's debut novel will be published by Amistad in 2020. Shayla Lawson is the author of three books of poetry—I Think I’m Ready to See Frank Ocean, A Speed Education in Human Being, and the chapbook PANTONE—and a forthcoming essay collection, published by Harper Collins, in 2020. Her work has appeared in ESPN, Guernica, Salon, This is Africa. She is a 2018 Yaddo Artist Colony Fellow, a 2017 MacDowell Colony and Oregon Literary Award Fellow, and former nonfiction editor of the Indiana Review. She currently serves as Writer-in-Residence at Amherst College and co-curates The Tenderness Project (www.tendernesses.com) with poet Ross Gay.
