"Road of a Migrant" A documentary directed by Dr. Olena Fedyuk

What do Ukrainian labour migrants in the EU do when they come home for a short annual break? Some go on a Pilgrimage. This film follows a unique event for Ukraine and Europe - an annual 10-day-long walking Pilgrimage in Western Ukraine - dedicated to and organized by Ukrainian labour migrants and their families. Besides the topic of migration, the film looks at the controversial rise of the church institution in a post-Soviet state, as a force occupied greatly not only with the spiritual, but also the social and political. Walking and praying together, the pilgrims receive grace, get an opportunity to share their experiences of living abroad, and reunite with their families, alienated in the years of migration. Screening is organized by the Ukrainian Studies Organization with support from the Russian and East European Institute (REEI)
