Women Helping Women: A Discussion with Laurie McRobbie
Indiana University’s First Lady, Laurie Burns McRobbie, will be visiting IU Northwest on Wednesday, March 20, as a part of the campus’s celebration of Women’s History Month. During her visit, IU’s First Lady will honor several IU Northwest female students who are making a difference through their volunteerism efforts in their communities.
At 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, Laurie will be leading a One Book…One Campus…One Community panel discussion focused on the themes from the campus’s read, "Women & Power: A Manifesto" by Mary Beard. This book traces the origins of misogyny to its ancient roots, examining the pitfalls of gender and the ways that history has mistreated strong women since time immemorial.
The panel discussion will feature female leaders from Northwest Indiana, taking place in the IU Northwest Theater at the Arts & Sciences Building. This free event is open to the campus and community.
